Manifesting and Executing the Vision featuring Laurie Underwood

In this installment of the Detroit Worldwide Podcast, Marquis connects with entrepreneur and fashion and bridal designer, Laurie Underwood about her journey to Chicago as well as the importance of  seeing and manifesting vision.

Laurie also discusses her experience as a contestant on Project Runway (Season 14) and how her time on TV allowed her to pivot her brands while supporting women of color.

About Laurie:

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Laurie attended Cass Tech, where she studied Fashion Illustration and Design.

With a passion for fashion design, Laurie moved to Chicago at the age of 18 to pursue her dreams of becoming a fashion designer. Laurie Underwood started her career as a Fashion Designer in 2008, designing ready-to-wear and custom pieces.

Due to her success in designing for style savvy clients, she started her fashion line, Wanda Grace. In 2015, Laurie was casted on Lifetime’s Emmy winning, Project Runway, where she placed in top 7 on the show.

After returning from Project Runway, Laurie decided to explore other opportunities, which meant the end of her brand, Wanda Grace, which was for the woman who has to work, but loves to play.

Today in 2017, Laurie has launched her new bridal line, Laury Bride, uniquely named after the designer. Laury Bride is Laurie’s fresh perspective on bridal dresses that epitomize chic femininity for today’s modern bride.
